Happy St. Patrick's Day

I love St. Patrick's Day! It is also my brother Luke's birthday...Happy Birthday Luke! Although we don't get to enjoy any cornbeef and cabbage this year, we did get to go and watch some of the St. Patrick's Day Parade. We ended up on 5th Avenue and 77th Street nearby the MET. Everyone was dressed in green and it felt like a holiday. The parade was okay. It was mostly marching bands and groups of bagpipers followed by large groups of people, but the music was fun. The parade route is 40 blocks long and it lasts a good chunk of the day (11am-4pm).

The weather was gorgeous with temperatures in the high 60's! I've never experienced a March this warm. Even last spring in New York wasn't this nice. The trees in Central Park are budding out and some are even in bloom. Pretty spring flowers like tulips and hyacinth are starting to open as well.

We only stopped to watch the parade for a few minutes here and there, but mostly we just walked along the route enjoying the exercise and the sunshine. It was a great day for people watching. We stopped to listen to these fellows playing their bagpipes. I added a video below so you could enjoy the music as well.

While we were passing by the Met, we stopped at a street vendor and purchased two watercolor paintings for our apartment. I'm super excited to find a place to hang them (shouldn't be too hard with all of our bare walls) and add some color to our apartment.
