We were able to go to Niagara Falls on Easter Sunday. After walking through the Sacred Grove we drove about an hour an a half to get there. It was a cool day and very misty around the falls. We didn't get to go to the Canadian side, which has the better view, because they require a passport to get into the country now. None of us had passports with us so we just stayed on the American side.
The view was still great on the American side. We learned that the Niagara Falls State Park is the oldest state park and was established in 1885.
It is so cold that the foam at the base of the waterfall freezes into sheets. You can kind of see it here.
The falls closest on the left are called American Falls and the falls on the right are called Horseshoe falls. The amount of water that goes over the falls is amazing.
There in the park they have a statue honoring Nikola Tesla, who was an inventor, mechanical and electrical engineer. Brian likes Tesla and is always talking about his accomplishments so I snapped a picture of him by the memorial.
After the falls we headed back to home in Queens. It was a 7 hour drive but ended up being much longer because of a three hour delay at the George Washington bridge. We hit traffic when we were about four and a half miles from the bridge and it took us three hours to make it to the bridge. Ridiculous! We eventually reached our apartment safe and sound where we fell into bed exhausted from an amazing weekend.
