Christmas

Our Christmas this year was very low key and modest. It was just what we needed after the last few very busy weeks. We spent our four day weekend at home, just the three of us.

We spent Friday just hanging out and taking turns caring for Connor. Saturday, which was Christmas Eve, consisted of more of the same, along with a mini photo shoot to document baby's first Christmas. Again, not professional at all, but we all got ready, and used the self-timer function on our camera to get a family shot. I don't know how many pictures we took, but this is the only one that turned out. I was happy that we at least got one. Our first Christmas as a family of three!

We took turns taking pictures of each other with our little love. He just makes us so happy.

We tried to get a few shots of just him in front of our tiny Christmas tree. Luckily, Connor is pretty small himself so that helps the tree to look bigger. His snazzy red sweater is a bit big for him, but I think it's cute. He will grow into it all too soon.

He cooperated really well for a little bit, but started to cry soon after it was his turn. Apparently taking pictures makes this boy hungry.

This picture of Brian and Connor made me laugh. We caught his pacifier in mid drop.

Christmas day was lovely. Connor kept us up a lot Christmas Eve night, but slept well that morning. We took advantage of his sleepiness, and did some sleeping in ourselves. Thus breakfast happened around lunch time and presents after that. We didn't do much by way of gifts this year. Along with some presents from our extended family, we opened our gifts to each other. Brian got me a couple of pairs of knitting needles that I'd been wanting, and I got him a book he'd been wanting.  That was completely fine with us, because we'd already gotten the best gift a few weeks before.

I made a small turkey breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, green beans, and homemade cranberry sauce for dinner. It was delicious, and just the perfect amount for us to have leftovers through the rest of the holiday weekend.

As with all perfect weekends, this one came to an end all too quickly. Even though it was a quiet little Christmas, it was wonderful, and one that we will always remember.
