The next day Brian had to go into work, so he got ready and hopped on the subway only to have it stop one block from our apartment. The train in front of them had lost power so they couldn't move forward. They weren't near a platform so no one could get off the train. He ended up being stuck on a tightly packed car for 3 1/2 hours! There was a crazy lady that worked for the Metro Transit Authority on the same car. She kept complaining about how the situation was being handled, and then later started saying that she was going to go postal. He got pretty nervous after that. It was also super frustrating because he could see our apartment from the train window. Finally, the train was able to move forward to the next stop and Brian got off and walked home. He was able to get most of his work done that day on our computer. The 7 train finally started working again at about 4:30 that afternoon.
I felt like a little kid that got out of school for a snow day! Even though Brian was working most of the time, it was nice to have him home. I kept looking out our window all day and watching the snow level rise on the cars parked along our street.
The next morning it had stopped snowing, but the wind was still blowing like crazy. There was a van stuck in the middle of our street. Someone apparently had though they could push through 2 feet of snow in a minivan and had failed miserably. The car ended up being stuck there for two more days. It was nice not having traffic down our street for a few days. It definitely made things quieter.
A snow plow cleared our street out three days later. There are still piles of snow on the side.walks with a skinny shoveled path winding through them. I love it! Brian on the other hand, not so much. It has been warm the last two days and the snow has turned into gray slush in the intersections and crosswalks. It has been an adventure walking to and from the grocery store and laundromat.
You're crazy girl... loving that kind of freezing weather. I guess someone has to. :)

We read this while listening to White Christmas, and it seemed appropriate!
